Virtual Skincare Consultations: Expert Skin Guidance From Anywhere in the U.S.

Good skincare advice shouldn’t require living down the street from your esthetician.
One of my favorite parts of being an esthetician has always been the detective work. Looking at someone’s skin, listening to its history, digging through the products they’re currently using, and figuring out why something may not be working the way they expected.
And a surprising amount of that work can happen without you ever stepping into my treatment room.
At The Skin Sanctum, I offer virtual skincare consultations for clients anywhere in the United States. These appointments are designed for anyone who wants professional guidance with their skin but may not live in Denver, isn’t sure where to begin with skincare, or simply wants someone knowledgeable to look at the entire picture instead of recommending another random product.
What Happens During a Virtual Skincare Consultation?
This isn’t a quick “send me a photo and I’ll tell you what cleanser to buy” appointment.
We spend our time actually talking about your skin.
I want to know what you’re currently using, what you’ve tried before, what has helped, what has made things worse, and what your skin is doing right now.
Depending on your concerns, we may also discuss things like your skin’s sensitivity, climate, lifestyle, hormonal patterns, medications that may affect the skin, previous professional treatments, allergies, budget, and how complicated you realistically want your routine to be.
Because the best routine isn’t necessarily the one with the most products.
It’s the one you can consistently use that makes sense for your skin.
Your Products Aren’t Evaluated Individually
One of the biggest mistakes I see with skincare routines is evaluating every product as though it exists on its own.
A cleanser might be perfectly fine.
Your exfoliant might be perfectly fine.
Your retinoid might be perfectly fine.
Your acne treatment might be perfectly fine.
But using all of them together, at the frequency you’re using them, on your particular skin? That can be an entirely different story.
Skincare is chemistry, but it’s also about context.
During a virtual consultation, I look at your routine as a whole. We can talk about active ingredients, exfoliation frequency, hydration, barrier support, potential irritation, redundancies between products, and whether the products you’re using actually make sense for the concern you’re trying to address.
Sometimes we add something.
Sometimes we take something away.
And sometimes the answer is simply changing how you’re using what you already own.
You Do Not Have to Throw Away Your Entire Routine
This is important.
A virtual consultation is not an appointment where I tell you everything you own is wrong and hand you a shopping list.
If you already have products that are appropriate for your skin, I want you to use them.
Part of responsible skincare guidance is recognizing when something is already doing its job.
If there are gaps in your routine or I believe another option would be more appropriate, I can recommend products available through The Skin Sanctum. We carry a deliberately curated collection of professional skincare, and products can be shipped directly to clients throughout the United States.
But product recommendations are based on what I believe your skin actually needs—not on filling your bathroom cabinet.
What Can We Work On Virtually?
A surprising amount.
Virtual skincare consultations can be especially helpful for concerns like acne, congestion, dehydration, sensitivity, a compromised skin barrier, uneven texture, post-inflammatory redness or pigmentation, melasma, early signs of aging, and simply figuring out how to build a skincare routine that makes sense.
For acne clients in particular, having someone look at the entire routine can be incredibly valuable.
Acne is multifactorial. More exfoliation, more drying products, and more aggressive treatments aren’t automatically better. In some cases, an overly complicated acne routine can leave the skin increasingly irritated while the underlying breakouts continue.
Our goal is to create a routine that supports the skin while addressing the factors we can reasonably influence through topical skincare.
What Virtual Skincare Cannot Do
There are also limits to what an esthetician can, and should, do virtually.
I cannot diagnose medical skin conditions or replace the care of a dermatologist or other medical provider. There are times when something needs to be evaluated medically, and I will always tell you when I believe that is the more appropriate next step.
Virtual skincare also cannot replace every professional treatment.
Microneedling, chemical peels, extractions, cryotherapy, professional facial treatments, and other modalities obviously require an in-person provider.
But your home routine is what touches your skin the other 300-something days of the year.
Getting that part right matters.
Professional Skincare Guidance Without the Guessing
There is an overwhelming amount of skincare information online.
Some of it is excellent.
Some of it is technically correct but completely wrong for your skin.
And some of it is just very good marketing.
The purpose of a virtual skincare consultation isn’t to give you more information to sort through. It’s to help you make sense of the information you already have.
My job is to look at your skin, your goals, your routine, your history, and your lifestyle together and help you build something thoughtful from there.
No 12-step routine required.
No shame about the products you bought because TikTok convinced you to.
No expectation that you need to replace everything at once.
Just education, strategy, and individualized skincare guidance.
